What it is

Food, formula and nutrition support for pregnancy, eligible parents after pregnancy and children under five (Alabama WIC).

WIC may help a younger child in the family even when the child in treatment is older. The income line is higher than ordinary child Medicaid’s. The clinic checks who qualifies and the food support that fits.

Eligibility rules
  • WIC includes pregnancy, infants and children under five, up to six months after pregnancy, and breastfeeding through the child’s first birthday. Alabama residence and a nutritional-risk assessment are required; U.S. citizenship is not.
  • Monthly income guidelines for June 1, 2026–June 30, 2027: 2 people $3,337; 3 $4,212; 4 $5,088; 5 $5,964; 6 $6,839. WIC’s family-size rules include expected babies.
  • The income standard is 185% of poverty before tax. Participation in Medicaid, SNAP or TANF establishes income eligibility.

What the help includes
  • The clinic sets the food package and follow-up appointments.
  • Special formula or medical foods need a medical form from the clinic team and WIC's approval, so ask the oncology dietitian to send it.
