Privacy
The short version is that this site doesn't collect anything about you or your family, apart from an anonymous count of visits. Here is the longer version, so you can see for yourself.
No accounts, no cookies, no profiles
There is nothing to sign up for and no database behind the site. The site doesn't set cookies. It is a set of plain pages that your browser downloads and shows you. I have no way of knowing who you are or of following you from one visit to the next, and I built it that way on purpose. You are dealing with enough without a website keeping notes on you.
Counting visits
I do count visits, so I can see which pages help and which need work. The counting is done by Cloudflare Web Analytics. It tells me how many people looked at a page, roughly which site or search engine sent them, which country they were in, and whether they were on a phone or a computer. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not identify you: I see totals, not people. If you block scripts in your browser, the count simply misses you and the site works exactly the same.
A few things your browser remembers for you
Some pages remember what you did so you don't lose your place. All of that lives in your own browser, on your own device. None of it reaches me.
- Saved. Your saved list is kept in your browser's local storage. It stays until you clear it or clear your browser data.
- Government help. Your answers on a state page are kept in session storage so a refresh doesn't wipe them. They clear when you close the tab, and there is a Clear button too.
- Find help. The finder puts your answers (need, state, age, whether you have a social worker) into the page address, the part after the question mark, so you can refresh or bookmark it. One thing to know: if you share that link with someone, your answers travel with it.
- AALL1731 page. Which pathway group you tapped is kept in session storage so the visuals stay in step. It clears when you close the tab.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare keeps ordinary server logs (your IP address, the time, and the page you asked for) for a short time. I don't look at those logs. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers what it does with them.
The feedback form
When you send feedback, the site sends me what you typed, your email if you chose to give one, and the page you came from if you came from this site. It gets to my inbox through a small program on Cloudflare and an email delivery service called Resend. To slow down spam, the program keeps a short-lived count of messages per IP address, in memory only. Nothing is stored beyond that, and I will never add you to a mailing list. Your email is only so I can reply if you want me to.

Site search
Search runs entirely in your browser. What you type is not sent to me or to anyone else.
Links to other sites
Most pages link out to program websites, government agencies, journals and hospitals. Once you follow a link, you are on their site under their privacy policy, so it is worth a glance if you are entering personal details there.
