What it is
Selected foods, nutrition support and referrals for children under 5 and pregnant or recently pregnant parents.
WIC serves children under 5 and eligible pregnant or recently pregnant people. Income at or under 185% of poverty can meet its income test. AHCCCS, Nutrition Assistance or TANF participation can establish that test, but an application alone does not. The clinic also checks each person’s category, residence and nutrition needs.
Eligibility rules
- Under 5, or pregnant or recently pregnant; each person is checked separately.
- Arizona’s WIC income table effective June 1, 2026 lists $4,212 a month or $50,542 a year for three people, until replaced. Medicaid, SNAP or TANF participation can establish the income requirement. Each applicant must still meet WIC’s age or pregnancy/postpartum category, residence and nutrition-risk rules.
- Arizona’s official program guidance does not make United States citizenship or lawful immigration status a WIC eligibility requirement. The clinic checks WIC’s own residence and other program rules. Questions about an individual immigration case are separate from this eligibility statement.

- A monthly food package for each eligible child, usable alongside Nutrition Assistance.
- Nutrition support and referrals.
What it is not
- Not the whole grocery budget. Prescribed formulas are not automatically covered; ask the clinic.

- Bring income records or a current AHCCCS, Nutrition Assistance or cash-assistance approval, plus each applicant’s details.

After you apply
- WIC serves each eligible person separately: the child under 5. A child aged 5 or over cannot be served through WIC; a pregnant or recently pregnant parent could be served in their own right.
Good to know
WIC can review your younger child using your income now; qualifying benefit participation can simplify the income check, but you do not need to wait for another program’s decision.
Other details
- An older child’s diagnosis does not create WIC eligibility.
