What it is

Your child may still need help after IHSS and nursing are arranged. The HCBA case manager can request more personal-care hours through WPCS. This does not let you bypass the HCBA waiting list.
Who can get it
- HCBA enrollment is required.
- WPCS must be part of your child’s HCBA treatment plan for assessed needs that IHSS and other services do not meet. Parent pay is for approved extraordinary care beyond what a nondisabled child the same age ordinarily needs. The agency documents that need and prevents payment twice for the same task and time. HCBA enrollment alone does not approve parent wages.

What happens next
- DHCS reports a processing backlog. The case manager can confirm receipt and current status.
- An approval identifies additional hours and a schedule without duplicate billing.
Good to know
The same hour cannot be billed to both IHSS and WPCS.
