What it is

WIC may help an eligible child under five or a pregnant or recently pregnant parent. Medicaid, SNAP or TANF can satisfy the income test. Otherwise, the clinic uses WIC’s income screen. It also checks category, residence and nutrition needs.
Eligibility rules
- Under 5, or pregnant or recently pregnant; each person is checked separately.
- Income at or under 185% of the poverty level, or current participation in Medicaid, TANF or SNAP, can meet the income test.
- From July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, WIC’s published income guideline for three people is $4,212 a month. Medicaid, SNAP or TANF participation can establish the income requirement; the age or pregnancy/postpartum category and nutrition review still apply. Delaware WIC: 302-283-7540. What you get

What it is not
- Not the whole grocery budget. Prescribed formulas are not automatically covered; ask the clinic.

- Bring proof of income or a current Medicaid, SNAP or TANF approval, and details of the person applying.

After you apply
- WIC checks each person separately. A child aged 5 or older cannot receive WIC, while a pregnant or recently pregnant parent may qualify separately.
Good to know
WIC can review any eligible family member using your current income. You do not need to wait for another benefit decision.
