A disability parking placard can help when your child has a certified mobility limitation.
Treatment can make the walk from the car difficult. A clinician must examine your child and certify the mobility limitation. A temporary limitation can qualify for a placard.
Eligibility rules
- A medical practitioner examines the person and certifies a mobility impairment, which may be temporary.

If you decide to apply
- Ask your child's clinician to assess the mobility limitation and complete the DMV medical section.
- Have the signed application ready for DMV within 60 calendar days of the clinician's signature.

Temporary placards
- A temporary placard lasts as long as the clinician says, to the end of the month printed on it. The signed form must reach DMV within 60 days of the clinician's signature; more time needs a new certificate.
Good to know
Cancer treatment alone does not establish the parking test. The form needs a certified mobility limitation.

Renewal requires a new application and medical certification; the renewal window within 60 days of expiration is separate from submitting a signed form within 60 days of certification.
