What it is
Selected foods, nutrition support and referrals for children under 5 and pregnant or recently pregnant parents.
WIC is for children under 5 and pregnant or recently pregnant parents, each checked separately. Income at or under 185% of the poverty line qualifies, and taking part in Medicaid, SNAP or TANF can simplify the income check; an application alone does not. The clinic also checks nutrition needs at an appointment.
Eligibility rules
- WIC serves pregnant people, breastfeeding parents through the baby’s first birthday, other postpartum parents through six months after pregnancy, infants and children under five.
- For July 2026 through June 2027, income is limited to 185% of poverty: $4,212 a month for three people. Current Medicaid, SNAP or TCA participation can establish the income requirement. The clinic also checks participant category, Florida residence and nutrition risk.
- Florida WIC does not make citizenship or immigration status a condition of eligibility. The clinic still checks Florida residence, identity, the eligible participant category, income and nutritional risk.
What you get
- A monthly food package for each eligible child, usable alongside SNAP.
- Nutrition support and referrals.
What it is not
- Not the whole grocery budget. Prescribed formulas are not automatically covered; ask the clinic.

- Ask the county health department’s WIC clinic for an appointment.
- Bring income records or a Medicaid, SNAP or Temporary Cash Assistance notice, plus the participant’s identification and pregnancy or child records.

After you apply
- Ask the clinic which participants must attend. Bring identity and Florida-address proof and recent income records, or proof of Medicaid, SNAP or TCA. A referral, Social Security number and immunization record are requested only if available.
Good to know
The clinic can check current income while another benefit application is pending. Each eligible person has a separate nutrition review.

- An older child’s diagnosis does not create WIC eligibility.
