A state fund pays participating hospitals for approved cancer care while funds last.
Cancer State Aid is not insurance. The treating facility must participate and submit the request. Most of Georgia’s children’s cancer hospitals are not on the published vendor list.
Eligibility rules
- Georgia residency, income no higher than 250% of poverty and a participating facility are required. Rule 511-5-10 has no age floor.
- The March 2026 list includes Atrium Navicent Health Medical Center in Macon. It does not list CHOA, Wellstar MCG or Memorial Savannah.

- Payment for approved cancer diagnosis, staging and active treatment at participating facilities.
- Related prescriptions and supplies through participating organizations.

- The approval specifies services and dates. Payment is limited by the state fiscal year’s available funds.

After you ask
- Designated facility staff submit through the gta-csa portal. Families cannot submit directly.
- Patients need a new review each state fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. The facility can explain processing and available funding.
Good to know
Full Medicaid blocks this fund. A listed hospital name does not establish that its pediatric practice can bill it.
Other details
- Memorial Health Meadows in Vidalia is a different hospital from Memorial Savannah. A facility outside the vendor list may still offer its own financial assistance.

What a no looks like, and the next move
The usual reason is that the facility is not a vendor. Move to hospital financial assistance and the Medicaid options.
Watch out
- The March 2026 vendor list does not include CHOA, Wellstar MCG or Memorial Savannah. Only Atrium Navicent in Macon appears, as an adult-hospital entry.
- Full Medicaid excludes it. Patients re-apply every state fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) and payment is limited to available funds.
- The family cannot apply: designated staff at the facility submit through the gta-csa portal.
