What it is

Michigan WIC offers food and nutrition support during pregnancy, after birth and in early childhood.

WIC can help with food during pregnancy, after birth or for a child under 5. Medicaid, food assistance or FIP can establish the income part of the test. The clinic still checks the person’s category and nutrition needs.

Eligibility rules
  • WIC serves eligible pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding people, infants and children under 5. The clinic checks the person’s category and nutrition risk; Medicaid, FAP or FIP participation can establish income eligibility.
  • Monthly limits effective June 1, 2026: 2: $3,337; 3: $4,212; 4: $5,088; 5: $5,964; 6: $6,839.
  • The annual limit for four is $61,050. Medicaid, SNAP or TANF participation can establish income eligibility.

  • Monthly food benefits, formula and nutrition support for eligible participants.
What the help covers
  • The food package and formula support follow the eligible participant’s needs rather than paying for all family groceries.

Good to know

A school-age child’s diagnosis does not qualify that child. A younger sibling or a pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding family member can still qualify.
