What it is

A Missouri service coordinator can help connect children and families with care and local support.

A regional coordinator can discuss your child’s special health needs. The program must decide whether your child can enroll and which services it can fund. A cancer diagnosis does not establish either answer.

What the program checks
  • DHSS confirms the current age and condition criteria, including whether cancer alone supports coordination. It also confirms any income test for funded services.
What you get
  • A conversation about coordination, referrals and services that may fit your child.
Funding review
  • The coordinator confirms eligible services, any annual funding ceiling, other-insurance requirements and any amount the family could owe. A written program decision is needed before relying on funding.

A letter naming the malignant-neoplasm exclusion. Keep it: it is the answer other families keep having to guess at.

Watch out

  • The public page's example conditions leave cancer out; the provider manual lists it as ineligible.
  • Funding comes after every other payer, never instead of one.

2026-09-10: The programme's provider manual lists malignant neoplasms among ineligible conditions, and the page carries no date. Ask for a written decision for your own child rather than relying on either page. (not yet confirmed against the final rule)
