Nevada’s Energy Assistance Program helps eligible households with gas and electricity costs.
What it is
Nevada’s Energy Assistance Program helps eligible households with gas and electricity costs.
Lower earnings can make an energy bill harder to cover. This program contributes toward the bill. A medical certificate can separately delay a qualifying shutoff.
Eligibility rules
- Nevada residence is required. The usual EAP income screen is 150% of poverty. A separate Crisis Intervention review may consider qualifying unreimbursed medical expenses when income starts above that screen. Energy costs, other conditions and funding still matter.
- For July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, monthly limits are $1,995 for one person, $2,705 for two, $3,415 for three, $4,125 for four, $4,835 for five and $5,545 for six.

What the help includes
- EAP usually makes an annual payment to an energy supplier rather than a cash payment to the family. The amount depends on allowable energy costs, household income and program limits, and funding can run out. Crisis Intervention, Fast-Track help and limited arrearage assistance have separate tests; a shutoff notice alone does not establish a payment amount.
- For July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the plan subtracts 1.48% of annual income from allowable annual energy costs, then applies program limits. A calculated amount below $360 may receive $360 under the plan; this is not a guaranteed award. EAP confirms the applicable maximum and remaining funds.

Help paying the bill does not itself establish a medical shutoff hold.
Other details
- The usual income screen is not the end of every review: EAP Crisis Intervention can consider qualifying unreimbursed medical expenses when annual income starts above 150% of poverty. Funding and the program’s other tests still matter.
