Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check Up help with rides to covered medical care. Approved overnight travel can include meals and lodging.

Repeated treatment visits can be hard to reach without reliable transport. Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check Up can arrange covered trips when the transportation rules are met, including some travel away from home.

Eligibility rules
  • The January 2026 transportation manual includes Nevada Check Up as well as Medicaid. The member must need transportation to covered care and meet the transportation assessment; having coverage does not approve every trip.
  • All fee-for-service Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check Up members, in every county, use MTM at 844-879-7341. Managed-care members in Clark and Washoe also use MTM; members in the other counties use their health plan’s transportation service. CareSource: 833-230-2058; SilverSummit/SafeRide: 844-366-2880.

What the help includes
  • Approved distant treatment may include meals, lodging and normally one attendant for a child under 18. The attendant generally must be 18 or older unless they are the child’s parent. Travel-status meals and lodging for the attendant end when the child is admitted; other family lodging help needs a separate conversation.
  • A minor may travel with an attendant. On necessary overnight out-of-area trips, the child and attendant share one room.
If you decide to apply
  1. Ask the social worker about a ride schedule for the treatment block.
  2. Ask the social worker to check your coverage arrangement and booking service. MTM serves members without a Medicaid health plan statewide and health-plan members in Clark and Washoe.

After you ask
  • Under the January 1, 2026 manual, routine rides usually need three business days’ notice. Out-of-area trips, normally at least 101 miles from home, and commercial flights usually need 14 calendar days. Urgent and discharge trips have exceptions. Some rural trips to the closest urban provider follow the ordinary booking process.
  • Reimbursement trip logs are due within 60 calendar days. Recurring out-of-area trips may be approved in batches of no more than five.

  • An out-of-area trip or flight needs a longer planning conversation than a local appointment.
  • Las Vegas Ronald McDonald House takes referrals from the treating hospital, rather than directly from families.

The diagnosis letter, the child’s insurance card, and the last two pay stubs cover most applications. The official page lists the rest.

How long: Book three business days ahead for a routine trip. Urgent and hospital-discharge trips are handled as exceptions.

What a yes looks like

A booked pick-up time, and for a long trip a travel authorisation covering the attendant.

What a no looks like, and the next move

A refusal because of notice or because the trip is out of area. Ask the transport email transportation@nvha.nv.gov what notice the trip needs.
