Nevada's own Marketplace (Nevada Health Link)
Nevada Health Link is Nevada’s marketplace for buying health insurance, with tax help for eligible households.
What it is
Nevada Health Link is Nevada’s marketplace for buying health insurance, with tax help for eligible households.
A coverage change can create a chance to buy a marketplace plan outside annual enrollment. Nevada uses its own marketplace. The hospital’s participation and the plan’s medicine coverage matter as much as the premium.
Eligibility rules
- The coverage-loss window runs from 60 days before to 60 days after other insurance ends. Medicaid or Nevada Check Up loss permits enrollment for 90 days afterward.
- Nevada Health Link checks tax-credit eligibility using the tax household, projected annual income, access to other coverage and the tax year’s rules. Its ordinary Medicaid-to-Marketplace income band does not decide an individual’s eligibility. Current monthly Medicaid income and projected annual Marketplace income are different calculations.
What you get
- A health plan with a premium tax credit when you qualify.
- Free local help comparing marketplace plans.
What the help includes
- Marketplace plans differ in their oncology networks, pharmacy rules and out-of-pocket costs.
If you decide to apply
- Ask a Nevada Health Link enrollment helper to compare plans if you decide to buy coverage.
- Bring the coverage-end notice and ask your cancer team which plans cover the hospital, doctors and medicines.

After you ask
- The enrollment helper can confirm the start date so you can compare any gap in coverage.
Good to know
The 2026 premium tax credit stops above 400% of poverty. A cheaper premium can still come with treatment costs.
Other details
- Nevada residents use nevadahealthlink.com rather than HealthCare.gov.
- Battle Born State Plans target lower premiums. Nevada has no separate state cost-sharing subsidy.
Federal background: Marketplace special enrollment.
Official sources
“If we need a new plan, which Nevada Health Link options cover my child’s team? Could you help compare the premium, treatment costs and start dates before we choose?”
Why I’m asking: I want to avoid an insurance gap or a plan that leaves our cancer team out.

Who does what
The three parts, side by side. The agency decides; nobody on this page does.
You
Enrol within the window and check the oncology network before choosing a plan.
Your social worker
The hospital financial counsellor can tell you which Marketplace plans the hospital and the oncology group take.
The care team
Records and letters when the application asks for them.
- Who decides
- The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.
- Ask the billing office
- “Which Nevada Health Link plans are this hospital and the oncology group in for next year?”
How to apply
First step: Go to nevadahealthlink.com or call 800-547-2927, ideally before the old coverage ends.
- Start the application before the old coverage ends, not after.
- Check that the oncology team and the hospital are in the plan's network before you pick.
- Ask about the tax credit using this year's expected income, not last year's.

Where it starts: Enrol at nevadahealthlink.com or call 800-547-2927. Free local help is listed on the site.
What to gather
The diagnosis letter, the child’s insurance card, and the last two pay stubs cover most applications. The official page lists the rest.
How long: Coverage usually starts the first of the month after you enrol.
Clock: Loss of other coverage opens a 60-day window on Nevada Health Link, and it also opens 60 days before the loss.
Clock: Losing Nevada Medicaid or Nevada Check Up opens a longer 90-day window on Nevada Health Link.
What a yes looks like
A plan choice with the tax credit applied and a start date.
What a no looks like, and the next move
A message that you are outside the window. Ask whether losing Medicaid or Nevada Check Up opens the longer 90-day window.
Watch out
- It is nevadahealthlink.com, not HealthCare.gov.
- For 2026 the tax credit stops above 400% of poverty.
- Check the oncology network before you pick a plan, not after.
Dates that change this
2026-01-01: For 2026 the premium tax credit stops above 400% of poverty: the temporary expansion covered 2021 through 2025 only. Nevada Health Link's own manual publishes the same 400% ceiling.
The numbers and the rules
The arcane layer, kept on purpose. Checked September 11, 2026.
What it is worth
A plan bought through Nevada's own Marketplace, with a 60-day window after coverage ends and 90 days after Medicaid ends.
- $60 — Days to enrol after losing other coverage
- $90 — Days to enrol after losing Nevada Medicaid or Nevada Check Up
Covers: Individual and family health plans with a tax credit between 138% and 400% of poverty
Legal protection: A special enrolment window that opens 60 days before a known loss of coverage
What it costs the family: A monthly premium, reduced by a tax credit between 138% and 400% of poverty.
The eligibility facts, as published
- Residency
- Nevada
- Income
- a tax credit runs between 138% and 400% of poverty for 2026
- Enrollment window
- 60 days before to 60 days after loss of other coverage; 90 days after losing Nevada Medicaid or Nevada Check Up
The trap: For 2026 the premium tax credit stops above 400% of poverty. The wider rule that let higher earners claim it ran for 2021 through 2025 and has ended.
