WIC can help a younger child in the family even when the child in treatment is older. It can run alongside SNAP. The clinic checks eligibility and each participant’s nutrition needs.
Eligibility rules
- The listed income limits apply June 1, 2026–June 30, 2027: $5,088 monthly for four, $4,212 for three and $3,337 for two.
- Participation in Medicaid, SNAP or TANF establishes income eligibility under federal WIC rules.
- Income eligibility does not establish the participant category or nutrition-risk requirement.

Good to know
Age, pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding status matter. The participant need not be the child with cancer.
Other details
- WIC covers a parent for six months after a pregnancy, or through the baby's first birthday while breastfeeding, and children under five. It does not ask about citizenship. The clinic usually sees you within 10 to 20 days.
