What it is

Oklahoma helps pay child care costs when a parent works, studies or trains.

Child care may be needed for a sibling or for the child in treatment. Oklahoma pays a provider while a parent works, studies or trains and income is under the line. Enrollment is frozen for children aged 9 and over, with exceptions the agency can explain.

Eligibility rules
  • Income is adjusted monthly income compared with 85% of state median income, not gross pay against a poverty line.
  • The October 1, 2025 chart uses adjusted monthly income: two people $4,525; three $5,589; four $6,654; five $7,718; six $8,783. Gross income from your answers here is only a starting estimate.
  • Enrollment is frozen for children age nine and older, with exceptions for disability, foster care, adoption, homelessness and cash assistance.
  • The posted income and copayment table is effective October 1, 2025. The current agency FAQ describes a freeze from age nine with specified exceptions. Hospital caregiving does not qualify automatically; ask whether your documented circumstances fit protective or preventive child care or another approved activity. DHS must confirm the current activity rule and exception, your copayment, provider and start date; its two-working-day processing step starts after the interview, required proof and provider selection are complete.

Good to know

Being at the hospital does not count as work, study or training. A parent who has stopped work cannot start this new; ask the agency whether an exception fits.
