What it is
Vouchers that can pay someone to care for your child while you take a break.
Respite can give a family caregiver time to rest. Sooner SUCCESS considers both household income and the care the child needs. A diagnosis alone does not meet the care test.
Eligibility rules
- The care recipient must be age 22 or younger.
- Annual household income must be $125,000 or less.
- Functional-care and other program requirements also apply.
- The caregiver must meet the program’s full-time unpaid-caregiving requirements. A cancer diagnosis alone does not establish eligibility.
What you get
- An approved respite voucher of up to $300, subject to funding and its use-by date.
- No family charge for the voucher itself.

- The voucher pays for respite care rather than replacing the caregiver’s regular income.

- Ask the social worker about Sooner SUCCESS and its respite application.
- Have annual household income and a description of your child’s care needs ready.

What happens next
- Sooner SUCCESS reviews the request and can explain how an approved voucher is used.
- The posted voucher must be used within three months. The caregiver arranges an eligible provider aged at least 18 who does not live in the caregiver’s home and can supply the required tax information. Ask Sooner SUCCESS about the approved uses, provider paperwork, current wait and whether further vouchers are available; this is not an automatic quarterly payment.
Good to know
The $125,000 annual income ceiling is the same for every household size.
