Oregon program
Oregon Health Plan for yourself, the parent
Free Oregon Health Plan coverage for you, the parent, when your own household income fits.
What it is
Free Oregon Health Plan coverage for you, the parent, when your own household income fits.
Your health coverage matters during your child's treatment too. Oregon checks adult OHP separately from your child's coverage, using current monthly income. The same ONE application can include both of you.
Eligibility rules
- The adult route covers ages 19 through 64 and requires Oregon residency.
- For four people, the March 1, 2026 monthly standard is $3,658, or $3,795 in the published five-point column.
- The adult line is about $3,142 a month for three people and $3,795 for four (March 2026), judged on this month's income. (then cut items[1])
- Oregon decides the applicant's household and income. Last year's tax return alone does not describe a recent pay cut.
What you get
- Free adult coverage for doctor visits, hospital care, mental health care and medicines.
What the help includes
- OHP Bridge is a separate no-cost adult option above the ordinary adult income line.
If you decide to apply
- Ask the social worker whether adult OHP fits your situation. If you decide to apply, the hospital counselor can include you in the ONE review.
- Have your current pay information ready, especially if hours or earnings have changed.

After you ask
- The ONE notice gives your own coverage answer, which can differ from your child's.
Good to know
A child's approval does not automatically approve the parent. The adult income limit is lower than the CHIP limit.
Other details
- Healthier Oregon can cover otherwise-eligible adults regardless of immigration status. OHP Bridge has a separate immigration-status requirement.
Official sources
“Could I qualify for OHP myself if our pay changes? What would the benefits and drawbacks be compared with my current options, and could you help me apply if it fits?”
Why I’m asking: I need to keep my own care covered while caring for my child.

Who does what
The three parts, side by side. The agency decides; nobody on this page does.
You
Add yourself to the child's application and report the change in pay in the month it happens.
Your social worker
The social worker adds the parents to the same application.
The care team
Records and letters when the application asks for them.
- Who decides
- The Oregon Health Authority, on this month's income.
- Ask your social worker
- “Can we add me to the same application, and report that my pay dropped this month?”
How to apply
First step: Add yourself to the same application at ONE.Oregon.gov.
- Add the parents to the same ONE application.
- Report a stop or drop in pay in the month it happens.
Official application / program page ↗
Where it starts: Add the parent to the same application at ONE.Oregon.gov, or call 1-800-699-9075.
What to gather
- This month's pay for each adult
- Oregon address
How long: The same 45-day clock.
What a yes looks like
Your own coverage notice and a plan to choose.
What a no looks like, and the next move
If it is income, ask what figure they used and whether OHP Bridge fits.
Watch out
- It is this month's income, not last year's return.
- If you are just over, ask about OHP Bridge, which has no premium either.
The numbers and the rules
The arcane layer, kept on purpose. Checked September 11, 2026.
