What it is
WIC offers food and nutrition support during pregnancy, after pregnancy and for children under five.
A young child, pregnancy or the months after pregnancy can open a WIC conversation. A participant’s qualifying Medicaid, SNAP or TANF record may establish income eligibility. The clinic also checks the participant category, residency and nutritional need.
Eligibility rules
- WIC serves pregnant people and children under five, with additional postpartum and breastfeeding categories.
- Monthly income ceilings from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027: two people $3,337; three $4,212; four $5,088; five $5,964; six $6,839.
- The ordinary income guideline is 185% of the poverty line. A participant’s qualifying Medicaid, SNAP or TANF record can establish income eligibility; certain family-member benefit routes also apply. The WIC clinic still checks the participant category, residency and nutritional need.

What the help includes
- The food package can include items such as milk, cereal, fruit and vegetables. Formula and breastfeeding support depend on the participant’s needs.

Good to know
An older child does not qualify just because they are in treatment. The eligible participant may be a younger sibling.
Other details
- WIC covers the six months after a pregnancy ends, or the baby's first year if you are breastfeeding. If a document is missing, the clinic can usually accept something else.
