Treatment in another state brings two different coverage questions. The hospital must be enrolled with Wyoming Medicaid. Your care team also needs to establish whether the planned treatment needs approval before travel.
Eligibility rules
- Your child needs Wyoming Medicaid, and the receiving hospital must be enrolled with it.

After you apply
- You can ask the social worker and treating team to confirm the receiving hospital’s and clinicians’ Wyoming Medicaid enrollment, the current treatment or transplant approval form, and who submits it. The written answer should separate treatment approval from travel approval and say which standard or urgent decision deadline applies.
- Medicaid should answer a treatment request within seven days, or within 72 hours when urgent. Medicines have their own clock.
Good to know
A hospital’s enrollment does not by itself mean a transplant or another planned treatment is approved.
