What you get

Your child with cancer, or a brother or sister, gets five free nights at overnight camp with pediatric oncology nurses on site day and night, meals, and rides to the hospital if needed. You pay nothing.

How to start

Call HIS KIDS at 618-654-4020 to ask about next summer's dates, then fill in one online application for each camper or teen leader.

Good to know

  • For cancer or another chronic condition, your child's doctor signs a medical form that HIS KIDS emails to you.
  • Bereaved brothers and sisters are welcome, and teens can come as Leaders in Training.

B-ALL is in scope. B-ALL is cancer and fits the treatment-camp eligibility.

Age 7 to age 17, measured at service date.

  • Treatment and sibling campers are 7–14; LITs are 15–17 as of the first camp day.
  • 2026-09-07 F01: Standard treatment and sibling campers are 7–14; ages 15–17 are a distinct Leaders in Training role.

Active Treatment, Maintenance Treatment, Post Treatment, Survivorship, Bereavement

  • Treatment campers may be undergoing treatment or in remission; sibling and bereaved-sibling paths are also offered.
  • Camp is free; lack of insurance does not disqualify a camper.

How to get started

Get ready to apply

Does a social worker or care team need to start it? No. A required care-team start is not published; the family can use the available route below.

Who can start: Parent Or Guardian, Patient

  1. Complete one online application per camper or LIT.
  2. Answer all health, medication, social, psychological, family-impact, and permission questions and upload both sides of the insurance card or report no insurance.
  3. If applying as an LIT, answer the leadership questions in the teen's own words.
  4. Electronically sign and submit, wait for the green confirmation, and confirm receipt if no email arrives within two business days.
