How to get started

Does a social worker or care team need to start it? No. A required care-team start is not published; the family can use the available route below.

Who can start: Caregiver, Parent Or Guardian, Patient

  1. A CAN representative contacts the family within 24 business hours to complete registration.
  2. Authorize the care team to verify fitness to fly.
  3. CAN searches schedules, usually available 7–10 days before travel, then seeks final corporate-partner approval.
  4. Confirm the treatment center and medical-stability requirements.
  5. Maintain backup travel because a matching corporate flight is not guaranteed.
  6. Submit a patient inquiry or flight request at least 10 business days in advance.
  7. Submit the live flight inquiry at least two weeks before a new patient’s first travel; general trip requests require at least 10 business days.
  8. The care provider completes medical clearance and CAN verifies the appointment.
