Family House San Francisco
Family House San Francisco provides free housing, support, comfort, and community for families whose child is receiving treatment for cancer or another life-threatening illness through UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. A UCSF pediatric social worker must make the referral; the family cannot apply directly, and placement is limited by near-full occupancy and a published distance rule of more than 50 miles from UCSF. The 84-room Mission Bay facility includes kitchens, laundry, family spaces, and a welcome toy or game for children. Guest families can also use daily and hosted meals, onsite social-work and wellness support, weekly family activities, music programming, and donated attraction or event tickets. Services operate year-round at no cost, but individual calendars, waitlist, placement timing, and program enrollment are not published.
