Support organization

Administración de Seguros de Salud de Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico's ASES administers Plan Vital, which lists cancer under Special Coverage for enrolled Medicaid members and covers medically necessary oncology services under a formal registry protocol. A parent first applies for Puerto Rico Medicaid, then a PCP or specialist—not the family—submits the cancer registry request with diagnostic and treatment documentation; the insurer must decide a complete request within 72 hours. Enrolled members with high needs may also request multidisciplinary care management, integrated physical and mental-health services, and conditional transportation help through their contracted insurer. A neutral enrollment counselor and the bilingual Vital App help families compare insurers, providers, offices, and network access. English and Spanish manuals, complaints and appeal guidance, and current pharmacy-transition information explain member rights and medication continuity.
